Justice Adkins was born in Gainesville, Florida, in 1915. He received his B.A. degree and his J.D. degree in 1938 from the University of Florida. Justice Adkins served on the Supreme Court of Florida from 1969 to 1987. He was Chief Justice from 1974 to 1976.
